AHAT Adult Literacy


AHAT ADULT LITERACY PROJECT

Realizing the fact that Adult Literacy is the key to improve standard of living and quality of human resources, AHAT has been implementing the project with the mission to increase literacy rate to 100% till the year 2025. Its projects for adult literacy were developed keeping in mind the lessons learnt from previous experiences.

AHAT sets up Adult Literacy Units (ALUs) in local communities providing basic literacy skills to the individuals (especially women) in the age group of 10-40, who were either never enrolled before or dropped out of school before acquiring literacy skills.

 The syllabus and textbooks are designed for easy learning, thereby enhancing retention. Communities are mobilized to provide space as well as the teachers. Women are encouraged particularly to join these Adult Literacy Units (ALUs).

 After the completion of five month course, the trainee is able to:

a) Achieve the basic literacy equivalent to grade three to five

b) Read simple text of Urdu & English

c) Write a simple letter, words & sentences

d) Manage figures up to four digits-able to add, subtract, multiply and divide

e) Special focus on mental math, use of mobile and calculator and writing in Urdu

f) Basic skills of Urdu & English Speaking
